Dear Colleagues,
It gives us immense pleasure to invite you to attend the 'AIIMS Ultrasound Regional Anaesthesia Workshop' being organized by the Department of Anaesthesiology at AIIMS, New Delhi.
Ultrasound has revolutionized the practice of regional anaesthesia. The ability to 'see' nerves, plexuses and surrounding vascular structures in real time with ultrasound, in addition to increasing the accuracy of the block, decreases patient discomfort and morbidity, and improves postoperative analgesia. In many situations ultrasound guided regional anaesthesia (USGRA) may be a safer alternative than general anaesthesia for patients with significant co-morbid conditions.
The practice of USGRA however requires a thorough knowledge of anatomy as well as appropriate skill training to enable the operator to view the intended target, the needle and the spread of local anaesthetic with the help of the ultrasound beam. This workshop aims to bring together training of anatomy on fresh cadavers, hands-on probe use, live demonstration of all the common nerve and plexus blocks from the operating room and troubleshooting.
This comprehensive learning experience is not to be missed by any aspiring anaesthesiologist wishing to gain proficiency in the use of ultrasound in clinical practice.
We urge you to block these dates on your calendar, and look forward to your participation.
